Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What kind of Insurance do I need for Swimrun?

Before taking part in Solvalla Swimrun you should make sure you have a valid insurance that covers any accident that might occur during the race. You can either contact your own insurance company and ask if it covers your participation or you can buy an ÖtillÖ Swimrun insurance. The ÖtillÖ swimrun insurance can be bought by all teams participating in Solvalla Swimrun as it is not limited to Merit Race participants.

  2. What kind of wet suit should I wear?

You can freely choose what wet suit to wear during Solvalla Swimrun. However, we recommend you to use a suit in which you are comfortable in when the water is between 10-14 c. The wet suit can be either long or short sleeved.  Our partner Head Swimming tailors wet suits for swimrunners.

  3. Where can I find information on the route?

All the information on all Solvalla Swimrun routes can be found on our Route info page.  The 2018 routes will be launched during Spring 2018. However, as Solvalla Swimrun takes place in Nuuksio National Park, the route may be subjected to change if protected plants or other wildlife is endangered on any site where the route passes. Moreover, exceptionally cold waters may be another reason for the route to change. We strive to keep you updated if any changes in the route are made.

  4. Can I try out the routes myself?

During late spring and summer we organise training events, during which you can familiarise yourself with the Solvalla Swimrun routes and the terrain. The training sessions tend to be in May-Jun and in August. Every year we organise around 5 training sessions with varying themes. The training sessions for the 2018 season will be launched in Spring 2018.

In addition to training sessions we also make GPS tracks which you can try out yourself. These tracks will be published during spring 2018.

  5. What drinks and food are served on the service stations?

The food and drinks that will be served on the Solvalla Swimrun 2018, will be launched in August 2018 at the latest. You will find all the information on the race information for teams site

  6. Can I bring my own food and drinks to the service stations?

The teams participating in Solvalla Swimrun ÖtillÖ Merit Race are allowed to bring their own snacks and drinks to service station 2, which is held at the Solvalla Sports Field. All items brought to service stop 2 should be labelled with your name, preferably placed in a separate bucket or similar. The items can be placed at the Service table after the race information session.

  7. Can I cancel my registration?

You can cancel your registration and move your participation to the next year. Refunds are only made when you provide a doctors notice, which proves you are not able to participate due to illness or injury.

  8. Can I change the name of my team or one or both of the team members of my team?

You can easily change the name of your team or one or both of the names of your team members. Any changes can be made by contacting us by e-mail.

  9. When is the last day to register?

The online registration is open until 19.9.2018. After that, you can contact us to see if there are still available places left.

  10. Does my team have to be present 08:50 on the competition day?

All teams should be on site at least 15 min before the information session for their distance starts. This is to avoid big queues and to make sure everyone gets their gear on time before the information session begins.

If you pick up your gear on Friday 21.9, you can come to Solvalla in time for the Information Session. The race information is compulsory for all teams.

  11. When can we pick up the competition gear?

You can pick up your Solvalla Swimrun gear on Friday 21.9 13:00 – 21:30 or on Saturday 22.9 up until the start of your race information session. After the race information session has started no more gear can be picked up for that particular race.
